Blood Pressure drops from Celery
Researchers at the University of Chicago Medical Center found that eating celery can reduce blood pressure. Celery has been used for years in Asia as a folk remedy for high blood pressure. Celery relaxes the muscles of the arteries that regulate blood pressure, allowing the vessels to dilate. It also reduces stress hormones in the blood which is a major factor in high blood pressure.

Six tips for Better Vision

  • Avoid excess UV exposure. Wear quality sunglasses.
  • Reduce stress and get enough sleep.
  • Eat plenty of orange, yellow, red, dark green and purple fruits and vegetables which are loaded with antioxidants; plus two servings of healthy fish like salmon each week.
  • Take quality vitamins that include vitamin C, natural carotenoids, vitamin E, alpha lipoic acid, and the B vitamins B2, B5, folic acid and niacin. Herbs like bilberry and ginkgo enhance circulation to the eyes.
  • Don't smoke.
  • Avoid steroids.

Building a Better Hospital
New hospitals may begin using a new evidence-based design that combines science with healthcare. Data from hundreds of studies revealed some facts: patients who see trees outside their windows are released sooner than those who see a brick wall; patients in private rooms get fewer infections; and adapting rooms so that patients do not have to move from ICU to a regular room cut medication errors by 67%. The caregiving team also benefits from these quality environments which incorporate brighter, more natural light, less noise, more spacious and better organized rooms. A group of experts estimated that including evidence-based design ideas into a new 300-bed hospital would add about $12 million to its cost, but could recoup more than $11.4 million within the first year.
